Mr. Thomas McLean (Buck) Faw, Sr. ’49

Mr. Thomas McLean (Buck) Faw, Sr., age 93, of Mount Airy, passed away on Saturday March 24, 2018. He was born in Millers Creek, N.C., September 13, 1924, to the late Claude C. and Edna McLean Faw.

He was preceded in death by Virginia Smith Faw, his wife of 42 years and good friend, his brother C.C. Faw, Jr., his sisters, Elizabeth Lewis, Margaret Heyward, and Corinne Sink.

Mr. Faw is survived by his daughter, Catherine Faw Lewis of Westwood, KS; his son McLean Faw, Jr. (Denise) of Matthews, NC; grandsons, Chris Lewis (Angela) of Columbia, SC, Luke Faw (Kelle) of Matthews, NC, Benjamin Faw of San Francisco, CA, and Matthew Faw (Alissa) of Los Angeles, CA.

He also had four great-grandchildren, Carter Lewis, Harper Faw, Asher Faw, and Amelia Faw.

Mr. Faw graduated from North Wilkesboro High School, Darlington Preparatory School in Athens, GA, Davidson College, and Wake Forest University School of Law.

He was a trial and corporate attorney in Mount Airy, NC for fifty-three years. He served as a Captain in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War.

He was an Elder of First Presbyterian Church, and on the board of directors of Southern National Bank, Spencer’s Inc., North Carolina Foam Industries, and the Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Faw was an avid tennis and golf player.

A visitation with the family will be held Tuesday March 27, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon, at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy, NC.
