William Davis Beall '49

William Davis Beall, 89, passed away Thursday October 5, 2017 after a brief illness. Bill was born February 27, 1928 to Henry and Cecile (Bell) Beall in Savannah, Georgia, the oldest of 6 children. He graduated from Hogansville (Georgia) High School in 1945 and attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Bill served as Lieutenant in the Second Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict. He met his beautiful bride, Helen Joyce Hight in high school and they married in 1945 in Hogansville Georgia.

In 1958 Bill began a long career in the Pharmaceutical industry, transferring to Tallahassee in 1960. Bill was a voracious reader, loved dogs, was a master bridge player, and an avid fan of Florida State football. Bill was also an enthusiastic golfer and carded a hole-in-one three times during his long career at Killearn Country Club. In retirement Bill volunteered his time at the Florida Museum of Natural History and served more than ten years as President of Condominium Association at his retirement residence in Panama City Beach.

Bill is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Bridget (Kee) Elwell (Tallahassee, FL); son, David Beall (Atlantic Beach, FL) ; grandchildren, Lindsay Elwell (Tampa, FL) and Stephen Elwell (Tallahassee, FL). Bill was preceded in death by his father, Major Henry Irvin Beall, USAAC in 1944 and his mother, Cecile Mae Beall in 1950. The family would like to express their special thanks to Maria Rubio, Rebecca Johnson, and Debbie Jett Potter for their devoted care.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Fellowship Presbyterian Church at 12:00 pm. The family will greet friends there from 12:30 to 1:30 following the funeral services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fellowship Presbyterian Church.
