Alec Edward Driskill ’82

Alec E. Driskill, 56, of Harrisburg, Pa., formerly of Lynchburg, Va., passed away peacefully Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Harrisburg.

Born June 18, 1960, in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Alec (Buck) and Dorothy (Dancy) Driskill.

Alec earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Davidson College where he was also a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity and a lifelong fan of the Davidson Wildcats basketball team.

He had been employed at Nationwide Insurance for the past 29 years, recently earning his CLU from American College.

Whenever Alec had free time you could find him at a sporting event baseball and football being two of his favorites.

He was a lover of nature, and, took pleasure in hunting, camping and hiking with his friends and family.

Alec enjoyed sharing stories with his golf buddies at Deer Valley and with his friends at Nationwide. He was kind, generous, intelligent, and, a great listener and a loyal friend.

He is survived by his daughter, Catherine E. Driskill; son, Alec E. Driskill II; and cat, OC (Orange Cat) of Rehoboth Beach, Del. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Betsy Long.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016, at First Christian Church of Lynchburg, 3109 Rivermont Avenue. He will be interred in Fort Hill Memorial Park, Lynchburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions, in remembrance of Alec, being made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
