W. Glenn Mayfield ’76

W. Glenn Mayfield ’76, 58, of Palm Coast, Fla., passed away on Dec. 17, 2012. Mayfield was born in Greenville, S.C., on March 10, 1954, and was raised in Charleston, S.C. He joined the United States Navy, where he served aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, and was a member of the initial crew when it was commissioned in October 1977, earning an honorable discharge in 1983. Mayfield attended Davidson and the University of South Carolina before transferring to the University of Florida, where he received an undergraduate degree in psychology in 1980. He then attended the University of Florida Law School, where he received a juris doctor degree in 1982. Mayfield was a partner in the law firm of Ledford, Mayfield, and Ogle in Ormond Beach, Fla., before going into semi-retirement. Mayfield is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Paulette R. Mayfield, 8401 N. Atlantic Ave., Apt. L16, Cape Canaveral, FL 32920; his sons, William Alexander Mayfield, Jonathan Wesley, and Wesley Marshburn White; daughter-in-law, Jolee Coarsey White; grandsons, Wacey Jon, Jack Henry, Justyn Wesley, and Layne Jasper White; his parents, William Alexander and Eleanor Patton Mayfield; a sister, Susan Mayfield Hunnicutt (Lee Hunnicutt); niece, Caroline Mayfield West; and nephews, Scott Patton West and Joseph Raleigh West (Hall Spratt West); and great-niece, Elliot Scott West. He is preceded in death by a brother, Wells Thomas Mayfield.
