Jerry Hartwell Kiser ’52, 82, of Opelika, Ala., passed away Sept. 16, 2012. He was born Oct. 19, 1929, in Shelby, N.C., to Samuel Dewey and Willie-Lee Kiser. Kiser has been an active member and past deacon of the First Baptist Church of Opelika since 1963. He was also a member and past president of the Opelika Lions Club since 1963. Kiser attended Davidson on a football scholarship. Upon graduation in 1952, Kiser worked for Citgo Oil Company. He later owned Kiser Oil Company and Consolidated Distributors. In his spare time, Kiser could be found fishing on Lake Martin. He was a model citizen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend; he will be dearly missed. Kiser is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Kiser, 702 Lankford Cir., Opelika, AL 36801; his four children, Thomas Kiser (Diane), Mike Kiser (Debra), Linda Inglis (David), and Cathy Kiser; and grandchildren, Thomas Kiser, Jr., Jenna Kiser, Kimberly Kiser, and Alexandra Inglis.
