James Yarboro “Jimmy” Scruggs Jr ., 89, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at Harbor Chase Memory Care in Rock Hill, S.C. A native of Rock Hill, Jimmy was born July 6, 1923, son of the late James Yarboro Scruggs Sr. and the late Cecil Frances Fewell Scruggs . His memory will remain with us as a true Southern gentleman. He was retired from the FBI as a Civil Service Investigator and was a U.S. Army veteran, having spent time in Europe during WWII. Jimmy was a lifetime member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon and elder. He was an honorary member of the Kiwanis Club, where he was actively involved and served as treasurer for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Cauthen Scruggs . He is survived by his three daughters, Cecil Fitcher of Rock Hill, Ruth Clark of Waxhaw, N.C., and Virginia Hargett of Rock Hill, SC; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
