Frank Davis, Jr. '45

Frank Etheridge Davis Jr., passed away peacefully on January 4, 2018. Born on April 28, 1923, he was a lifetime resident of Atlanta.

After graduating from Boys High School in 1941, he attended Davidson College until called to active duty in Dec. of 1941.

While at Davidson College, he was involved with the Tennis Team, Rifle Team, Concert Orchestra, Marching Band as well a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

He served in the US Army for 3 years where he was assigned to the European Theatre and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts. Upon his return, he completed his college education and graduated from Georgia State University.

He had a 41-year career in sales management with Allstate Insurance Company. He was a lifelong member of Northside United Methodist Church where he served on multiple committees.

He was a 50-year member of the Kiwanis Club where he held the office of President, a member of the Fulton County Grand Jurors Association, the 300 Club of Atlanta, and a founding member of the Cherokee Town and Country Club where he was an avid tennis player.

In addition to working for Allstate, he spent many years developing real estate with his brother, Jeff Lee Davis.

One of his greatest joys was spending time at a family home on Lake Burton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Betty Crane Davis.

He is survived by his son, Dr. Frank E. Davis III (Julia) of Savannah, daughter Allison Davis Berkowitz (Gerald) of Charlotte, NC, brother Jeff Lee Davis (Elaine), three grandchildren: Martin Ross Berkowitz of New York City, Cameron Lee Berkowitz of Los Angeles, and Madeline Grace Davis of Savannah as well as multiple nieces and nephews.

The family would like to pay special tribute to the outstanding care provided by the staff at Buckingham South as well the Hospice Savannah team.

Funeral services will be held in Atlanta on Sunday, January 7th at 2pm at Northside Methodist Church.
