Bryan Moore Storey ’50

Mr. Bryan Moore Storey, age 86, of Rome, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015. Mr. Storey was born in Rome, Ga. on October 6, 1929, son of the late Elmo P. Story and Nettie M. Storey. He was also preceded in death by his wife Betsy Storey on November 1, 2000 and by a brother Harbin Storey on October 23, 1976.

Mr. Storey graduated from Darlington School and received his A.B. Degree from Davidson College. He attended Harvard Law School and the University of Georgia Law School. He was a member of the Cum Laude Society, Phi Beta Kappa, and Delta Theta Phi law fraternity.

He was commissioned as second lieutenant, U.S. Army Infantry and served as mortar platoon leader with the first Calvary Division during the Korean War receiving the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, the United Nations Medal and the Ambassador for Peace Medal.

Following graduation, he was employed as staff member of the Institute of Law and Government at the University of Georgia. He was a member of the Law Firm of Covington, Kilpatrick & Storey, and practiced law in Rome for more than 50 years as a member of the Rome Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia.

He was a charter member of the Rome Breakfast Optimist Club and Organizing Director of the Reynolds-Miller Day Care Center.

As a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rome, he served as Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, Deacon and Elder.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at First Presbyterian Church at King Hall from 1 pm until 3 pm and will be followed by the funeral service at 3 pm with Dr. James Van Dyke and the Rev. Jeff Chadwick officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully memorial contributions to be made to The American Legion 5 Shorter Avenue, SW Rome, Ga. 30161. Daniel’s Funeral Home has charge of the funeral arrangements.
