Ned Purvis Everett ’48

Ned P. Everett, 90, of Robersonville died on the morning of Monday, October 26, 2015. A graveside service will be held Friday October 30th at 2:00 pm in the Robersonville Cemetery in Robersonville, NC. He was born on December 26th, 1924, in Robersonville, NC. The son of Nun C. Everett and Allie G. Little Everett.

He enlisted in the US Army where he took part in World War II Theater and played in the Military band. After his term in the service he left the Army and returned to North Carolina where he attended Davidson College and received a law degree from Duke University School of Law-1951.

He received a position on Capitol Hill as Administrative Assistant for the Honorable Herbert C. Bonner in the US House of Representatives-1966-1970 and also served the Legal Counsel for the US House of Representatives- House Merchant Marines & Fisheries Committee 1970-2000.

After nearly four decades of service he became a Real Estate Broker serving the Arlington Virginia area. He was an active member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Arlington, VA. The last years of his life he was troubled with illnesses. His caretakers, family and friends have remained by his side through it all. Ned’s family would like to offer special thanks for his wonderful care by his caretakers.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Everett brother, William R. Everett and Nun C. Everett, Jr. Surviving are nephew; William R. Everett, Jr. (Tex) and wife, Vel Thurber Everett; niece, Alyce Everett Green and her husband, John I. Green: great nephews; Brian C. Everett, Christopher Ned Everett, J. Tyler Green, 1LT Zachary T. Thurber, and wife, Aimee Thurber, Cameron E. Green and Mason A. Thurber.
