Benton Thomas Ferguson ’09

Benton Thomas Ferguson '09Benton Thomas Ferguson died on March 29, 2015, still full of possibilities, one day after his twenty-eighth birthday. Visitation will be Friday, April 3, from 3-5 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home in Florence, Alabama.

A graduate of Florence High, Ben earned his B.A. in English at Davidson College, North Carolina, and then went on to a career in film production in New York City, New York. Benton worked on such projects as Girls, Power, CSI, and The Skeleton Twins (look for him in the first five minutes!) Ben was gifted in music, writing, painting, and in being a friend. His family has received much comfort from the many recountings of Benton’s impact on others.

Ben left us with these words, “When you think of me, remember what we had in common, what memories we shared, and I will be there living with you, never more than a stone’s throw away. Never forget that I love you so much, and I am endlessly, infinitely, world-formingly grateful.”

Ben is survived by his parents Dr. Charlie and Beki Ferguson; brother, Scott Ferguson; sisters, Jamie and Gretta Ferguson; grandmother, Robbie Robbins; and other family and significant friends we now call family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a creative project in memory of Ben at https://funds.gofundme.com/mobile/dashboard?url=benismagic, or to the Neuro-oncology Comprehensive Cancer Center, UAB, 510 20th Street South, FOT 1020, Birmingham, AL 35294.
