D. Murray Remson III ’51

David Murray Remson, III was born in Sylacauga, April 2, 1928. He passed away Dec. 11, 2014 at his daughter’s home in Cullman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Marguerite Remson, II and the love of his life, Edith Fay “Deedie” Whetstone Remson. He is survived by his five children, David Remson, IV (Pam), Matt Remson (Rita), Paul Remson, Joel Remson (Marie) and Missy Remson Donaldson (Tim). He also leaves behind his brother, Jack Remson (Lola); and five grandchildren, Davey Remson V, Rachel Remson, Logan Remson, Hannah Donaldson and Lane Donaldson.

Mr. Remson graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina. He served 2 years in the US Air Force. He retired from Avondale Mills after 42 years. During those years working for Avondale, he lived in Manhattan, New York; Boston, Massachusetts; Birmingham and finally Sylacauga. He was a faithful member of The First Presbyterian Church of Sylacauga. He also served as an Auxillary member of Coosa Valley Medical Center for 20 years.

Funeral services were Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Rev. Ross Reddick officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014 starting at 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.
