W. Thomas White ’65

Mr. Thomas White, of Gilbert Road, Mocksville, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, October 30, 2014, just 16 days after his 71st birthday.

 

Mr. White was a native of Surry County, born October 14, 1943, to the late Buck White and Frances Virginia Thomas White. He was a graduate of Davidson College and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Law School and had been a practicing attorney in Mount Airy and Winston-Salem prior to co-founding TRP Enterprises, a business training and consulting group. He also served as the manager of Sugar Valley Airport in Davie County. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving his country in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972.

 

Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife of over 26 years, Joanna L. van Heyningen White; two daughters: Julie Lauwers and husband, Bob, and Lee Kosub and husband, Christopher, all of Mocksville; one step-son, John David Short of Asheville; two grandchildren: Elijah Short and Aidan Short of Asheville; and one brother, David White and wife, Glenda, of Mount Airy, and their two children Buckley Slender-White of San Francisco and Lauren White of Wilmington.

 

Private services will be conducted by the family. Memorials may be made to Sugar Valley Airport, 247 Gilbert Road, Mocksville, NC 27028 in honor of his life of service and love of aviation.
