Cynthia Atkins Luckie, 40, of Montgomery, AL. died Friday, August 29, 2014 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. E.S.T. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. 31907. A private burial to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until service time.
Cynthia was born on August 8, 1974 in Davidson County, TN, to William V. Luckie of Southside AL, and the late Kay Andrews Luckie. A resident of Montgomery since 1999, Cynthia was an Archivist and was employed by the Alabama Department of Archives and History. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Davidson College in Davidson, NC and received her Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina.
Cynthia served as the Treasurer for the Society of Alabama Archivist (SALA) and was a member of the Alabama Historical Association (AHA). She was active in organizing the Southern Archives Conference. She is survived by her father William V. Luckie of Southside, AL. Aunts, Frances Woolf of Glencoe, AL, Carol Flowers (John) of Evans, GA, and Laura Porter (Randy)of Verbena, AL. uncles, Charles Andrews (Susie), Comer, GA. and Gilbert Andrews (Susan) of Ellerslie, GA. and numerous cousins.
