Angus Benjamin “Buddy” Hagins, Sr., 81, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014. He was born December 12, 1932 in Lancaster, a son of the late Angus Wallace Hagins and Marian Victoria McCants Hagins. Mr. Hagins was married to the late Barbara Marilyn Mealing “Bobbie” Hagins for over 50 years.

He was a graduate of Lancaster High School and Davidson College. Upon graduating from college, he proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hagins worked at Porter Belk Lumber Company for over 35 years. In his retirement years he helped his wife with all her charitable work and was an avid photographer.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Hagins will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014 at First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Hagins is survived by a son, Angus Benjamin “Ben” Hagins, Jr. of Lancaster. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Ellison “Sonny” Hagins and a sister, Junell Hagins “Judy” Paul.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014 at First United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bobbie Hagins Gold Award Scholarship Fund, 5 Independence Point, Suite 120, Greenville, SC 29615. The Gold Fund is used to help Girl Scouts achieve the gold award which is equivalent to Eagle Scout in the Boy Scout organization.
