Frederick Griffith Walsh ’55, 79, passed away on September 2, 2013 at his home in Denton, Texas surrounded by his wife and family. Fred was born December 22, 1933, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Frederick B. and Helen S. Walsh. He attended The Belmont Hill School in Massachusetts and graduated from Davidson College in North Carolina in 1955. Beginning in 1956, he served for three years in the United States Army. Upon graduating from the Army Language School in Monterrey, California, he served in Korea as a linguistic specialist. He then spent more than 30 years working for General Motors within the Chevrolet Motor Division and retired in 1994 in Dallas, Texas. Fred and his wife Nancy were happily married for 51 years. In addition to Nancy, he is survived by their three children: Gary G. Walsh and his wife Janice of Dallas, Texas; Susan W. Ponikiewski and her husband Gary of Hurst, Texas; and Steve S. Walsh and his wife Tricia of Frisco, Texas; and his six grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, David A. Walsh and his wife Emmy of University Park, Florida and their four children. Memorial Services will be held Monday, September 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the Argyle United Methodist Church, located at 9033 Fort Worth Drive in Argyle, Texas.
