William N. Nash ’47

William N. Nash ’47, 86, of Louisville, Ky., and Naples, Fla., died on Dec. 11, 2012, in Naples, Fla. Nash grew up in Shelbyville, Ky., where his family owned several farms. However, it was the medical field which ultimately drew his attention. He attended Davidson and was drafted by the Army in World War II. When he returned from service, he graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.S. degree, where he was member of Kappa Alpha. He then went on to graduate from the University of Louisville Medical School with a M.D. degree. He did additional training in New York City and Columbia Presbyterian in anesthesiology. He returned to practice in Louisville at the old Norton Hospital and Suburban Hospital. He retired in 1988 to relax and play golf in Naples, Fla. Nash was preceded in death by his parents, Charlton and Sarah Harbison Nash, and his wife, Janet Dant Nash. He is survived by his wife, Mary Bernhard Nash, 7 Brownsboro Hill Rd., Louisville, KY 40207-2009; son, Douglas Caldwell Nash; step-daughter, Casey M. Anderson; step-son, John A. Meyer, Jr.; and four great-grandchildren, Caroline B. Anderson, Laurence P. Anderson, Jr., Trevor E. Meyer, and Lindsey A. Meyer.
