Malloy Davis, Jr. ’63

Malloy Davis, Jr. ’63, of Belmont, N.C., passed away peacefully at home Oct. 28 following a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born on March 12, 1941, in Winston-Salem, N.C., to the late Malloy 1923 and Dorothy Thompson Davis. At an early age, he moved to Belmont. Following in his father’s footsteps, he attended Davidson, where he joined Kappa Sigma fraternity. After serving three years in the Marine Corps, Davis returned to Belmont and graduated from Belmont Abbey College with a degree in accounting. He began his career at Ernst & Ernst and earned his CPA license during this time. He continued his career in accounting and retired from Pharr Yarns in 2004. Davis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Belmont, N.C., where he served as a deacon, elder, and Sunday school teacher. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jennifer Young Davis, 203 Merewood Rd., Belmont, NC 28012; beloved daughters, Catherine Davis Lane (Patrick Lane) and Jennifer Ann Davis; grandchildren, Rebecca Ann, Elizabeth Malloy, Mary Margaret, and Patrick Daniel Lane; three sisters, Dottie LaFar (Marshall ’63), Catherine Haining (Dick), and Mary Holt (David); and numerous nieces and nephews. His family was his greatest joy.
