David Edward Burns ’99

David Edward Burns ’99, 34, of Cornelius, N.C., passed away on Oct. 29, 2011. He was born in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Dec. 28, 1976. He is survived by his wife, Amanda Davis Burns ’01, 18418 Victoria Bay Dr., Cornelius, NC 28031, and their three children, Isaac (5), Aaron (3), and Jordan James (1); his parents, Herb and Susan Burns; brother, Herbie Burns (Elizabeth) and daughters, Anna and Abby Burns; Amanda’s father, Gerry Davis (Karen La Chapelle); Amanda’s mother, Jan Collins (Dan); Amanda’s brother, Brendan (LeighAnn) and daughter, Linley; brother, Dylan (Kristen) and children, Jadyn, Raegan, and Douglas; grandparents, Ruth and Ed Seiler, Ruth Anderson, and Irmagene Davis; and other extended family. Burns attended and graduated from Davidson, where he received a basketball scholarship. While at Davidson, he was a member of their NCAA basketball team. At Davidson Burns graduated with a studio art degree and was an accomplished professional artist. Burns was recently inducted into the Bishop McGuiness High School Sports Hall of Fame. He worked for several years with Charlotte Observer. Burns and his wife have been regularly attending The Cove, an interdenominational church, near their home. Burns was a great husband and father, son, and child of God. With his passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated, although we will miss him every day, especially his winning smile and sense of humor, and he will always remain forever in our hearts and minds.
