Ted Robert Harviel ’52, of Cornelius, N.C., passed away Jan. 23 at Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, N.C. Born July 10, 1929, in Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late Bewell R. Harviel and Lacy White Harviel. Harviel was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College, attended UNC Chapel Hill and Davidson, and retired from McKesson Drug Company. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a weapons instructor and was a member of the American Legion Post 86 for 50 years. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 59 years, Lou Jacobs Harviel, 10105 Washam Potts Rd., Cornelius, NC 28031-9155; daughter, Kelly Harviel Buday (Ernie); and grandson, Bennett Mitchell Buday.
