Paul H. Felker ’51

Dr. Paul H. Felker ’51, retired Waldensian Presbyterian Church minister, died July 31, 2005, at Carolinas Specialty Hospital in Charlotte after a brief illness. He earned his master of divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary and his doctor of ministry from McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, Ill. His first pastorate began in 1954 with Beersheba and Filbert Presbyterian Churches in York, S.C. He became pastor of Mulberry Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, NC in 1960 and served for nine years. His third and final pastorate was with the Waldensian Presbyterian Church, Valdese, where he completed twenty-five years of service. He served as moderator of the presbytery in three of the presbyteries and as a delegate to the General Assembly of the Waldensian Church of Italy in 1970. He was also a member of the board of trustees for the Grandfather Home for Children in Banner Elk, N.C. for many years. He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Carol Price Felker, 1201 Laurel St. NE, Valdese, N.C. 28690-8713; three sons, Mark Felker ’76 and wife Wendy ’77 of Charlotte, Alan Felker and wife Lesa of Boone, Eric Felker and wife Sandra of Cornelius; and a brother, Roger Felker ’58 and wife Nancy of Charlotte. Also surviving are eight grandchildren.
