Thenton Lowell Davis, Jr. ’51

Thenton Lowell Davis, Jr. ’51 of Columbia, S.C., died June 4, 2005. At Davidson, he played football, joined Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and was elected to the ODK leadership fraternity. After graduation he volunteered for active duty in the U.S. Army and began his service as a second lieutenant, seeing service in Korea and Japan. Upon completion of his tour, he began a career in banking in Charlotte, N.C., then moved to Columbia. He worked for Lyon Workplace Products, Inc., (formally Lyon Metal Products, Inc.) in Aurora, Ill., for thirty-five years. He retired as assistant vice-president, general sales manager. After moving to Columbia, he affiliated with The Rembert Co., Inc., where he remained until his death. He was a faithful member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, in the Stephen Ministry, and in the Frank Harden Sunday School Class. Surviving are his wife of fifty-three years, Sara Little Davis, 4735 Cedar Springs Rd., Columbia, S.C. 29206; daughter, Susan Davis Ueland; sons, Lee DuPre Davis and Wesley Lowell Davis; grandchildren, Kelley Davis, Nolan Davis and Jackson Ueland; son-in-law, Tor Ueland; and daughter-in-law, Kimberly McInerney.
