C. Patterson Clark ’50 of Newton, N.C., died June 13, 2005. Mr. Clark was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Newton, where he served as an elder, Sunday school teacher, member of the stewardship/finance/personnel committee, and treasurer for Western N.C. Presbytery. He worked for General Electric for thirty years, serving as material and design specialist. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in World War II and Korea as captain in the infantry. Mr. Clark was a volunteer for the City of Newton and Catawba Valley Medical Center. He was a member of American Legion Post 16, and served as a substitute in the V.A. Office for a year. He served one term on the Newton Board of Aldermen. Survivors include his wife, Virginia ‘Ginger’ Corpening Clark, 200 W. 9th Street, Newton, N.C. 28658-3134; three sons, Rev. Pat Clark, Jr. and wife, Judy, of Georgetown, Ky., Deward Clark and wife, Jeannie, of Catawba, N.C., and Mitchell Clark of Newton, N.C.; and eight grandchildren, Stacie Kushner, Ashley Clark, Elliot Clark, Dee Clark, Casey Clark, Chris Smith, Sherri Smith, and Mitchell Ray.
