Charles T. Bennett II ’46

Charles Thomas Bennett II, 75, of the 1700 block of Crescent Drive, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at Albemarle Hospital.

He was born in Pasquotank County, N.C., and was the son of the late Thorburn P. and Marion Woodley Bennett and was the widower of Claire Love Bennett . He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a member and past president of the Elizabeth City Rotary Club, and a member of Improved Order of Red Men, Tribe No. 8. He was a retired insurance agent with Guardian Life Insurance Company of America.

Mr. Bennett is survived by a daughter, Nancy B. Aneralla of Huntersville, N.C.; two sons, Charles Thomas Bennett III of Greenville, S.C. and David C. Bennett of Elizabeth City; a sister, Anne B. Williams of Elizabeth City; two grandchildren; and a niece and a nephew.

The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, in Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, with the Rev. Clyde Denny officiating. Burial followed in Old Hollywood Cemtery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to The First United Methodist Church, E. Rodney Trueblood Organ Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 401, Elizabeth City, N.C. 27907. The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Williams, 1215 W. Church St., Elizabeth City.
