It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Wayne Thompson (Tom) Harris, Jr., 85, who passed peacefully on February 7, 2026.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Molly B. Harris, with whom he shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his sister Thanta Isenhour; his two brothers, Mark Harris and David Harris; his son, Wayne (Todd) Thompson Harris III; his daughter, Molly Stewart Harris and her husband Sanford; along with eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren who were a constant source of pride and joy.
Tom was a graduate of Davidson College and the UNC School of Law. He proudly served his country in Vietnam, achieving the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army. His sense of duty and integrity remained evident throughout his life.
He was widely respected for his many years of faithful service as a Sunday School teacher at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina where his steady presence and guidance touched countless lives.
If you were ever looking for Tom, you might have found him on the links at Quail Ridge or enjoying other great courses around the world. His love of golf was matched only by his passion for coaching youth basketball and baseball, and by his unwavering support of Davidson sports. Above all, he cherished his time with Molly, especially during their many memorable excursions around the world.
He will be remembered for his strength of character, his devotion to family, and the quiet, enduring impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him.
A Celebration of life will be held at the Quail Ridge clubhouse on Tuesday, March 3rd from 4:00pm – 6:00pm.
