Robert Lathan Hughes, age 83, of Asheville, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Friday, May 2, 2025.
Born on December 20, 1941, and raised in Bluefield, West Virginia, Robert was a professor in the Mass Communications Department at Virginia Commonwealth College.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Hughes, his children, John B. Hughes, (Lauren Hughes) and Anthony F. Hughes (Lisa Hughes), and his grandchildren, Jackson, Kaitlyn, Hyla, Jack, and Ninah Hughes.
In accordance with his wishes, no funeral services will be held. The family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Manna Food Bank to honor Robert’s memory and his commitment to the well-being of his community.
