Wilson Seibert Hendry ’55

Wilson Seibert Hendry M.D., 90, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away on December 25, 2023. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Penny, who died on December 22, 2023.

Wilson was born in Perry Florida, February 26th, 1933. He attended Davidson College, and Duke University Medical School, where he received his M.D. in 1959.

He served as a captain in the US Army medical corps, at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C.

In 1966, he moved to Sarasota where he began his career as a pathologist at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. In the late 1970s, he and his partners co-founded Sarasota Pathology.
Wilson loved wildlife and was an avid nature photographer. He read books on a variety of subjects, including philosophy, Christianity, biology, history and chemistry. He also was devoted to classic literature and read everything from Shakespeare to Mark Twain. He always listened to the Metropolitan Opera broadcast on Saturdays.

Wilson is survived by his son Hampton, daughters Cornelia and Rachel, brother John Alexander Hendry, sister Helen Lowrey, and many other family members and friends.
