Felix Calvin Yarboro ’59

Felix Calvin Yarboro died May 16, 2020, at the age of 84. He was born and raised in Elkin, North Carolina. He is the son of Kapp and Gertha Yarboro who, along with his in-laws, Sheffie and Hattie Graham, predeceased him.

He is also preceded in death by siblings and in-laws James and Ruth Yarboro, Martha Yarboro, Margaret and Felix Darnell, Tommy and Frances Yarboro, Donald Miller and Windle Yarboro. A precious infant daughter, Laura Noel, also predeceased him.

He is survived by the treasure of his life, Helen Graham Yarboro, to whom he was married for 60 years; children and their families: Chris, Kim, Graham and Benjamin Yarboro; Jonathan, Alicia, Stanton and Josephine Yarboro; Anna Kate, Robert, Abigail, Hattie and Laura Donovan. Brother Benny Yarboro and sisters Emelene Miller and Gemmie Key with her husband Alan also survive.

He is a graduate of Elkin High School and Davidson College. He served in the US Army. He and his family moved to Birmingham in 1969, where he began serving Independent Presbyterian Church as Youth Director and Community Ministries Coordinator. He retired following 32 years of service to IPC.

A service of worship will be held at Independent Presbyterian Church at a later date.
