Charles “Charlie” Davidson Slagle ’74

Charles “Charlie” Davidson Slagle was born on March 25, 1952, in Binghamton, New York to the late Arline Davidson Slagle and Robert Malone Slagle. Charlie passed away at age 67 on July 1, 2019.

Charlie was full of life, and his energy was contagious. He loved his family, his friends and all the players he coached along the way. We will all remember his loud voice, competitive spirit, sense of humor, and that he never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Charlie is survived by his children, Barry Slagle and Amelia Letourneau, his siblings Robert Slagle and Janet Jacobs and his grandchild, Clara Slagle.

Friends and family members are welcome to attend the memorial service, officiated by Rev. Preston Davis, on Sunday, July 28 at 3pm at Davidson College Presbyterian Church, 100 N. Main St. Davidson, NC. The service will be followed by a reception in the Lilly Gallery on Davidson College’s campus.

In lieu of flowers, the family request you remember Charlie’s legacy in two ways. You may make contributions to the Davidson College Charlie Slagle Scholarship, Davidson College, Box 7170, Davidson, NC 28035. You may also make contributions to The E2D charity which helps children receive the educational tools they need regardless of their economic situation. E2D was founded by Charlie’s friend, Pat Millen and supported by Patrick Braxton Andrew, best friend of Barry Slagle and a former player for Charlie, who passed away tragically in 2018.
