Harold Kistler ’59

Harold Leon Kistler, 82, of Blairs, Va., went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Sovah Health.

He was born in Mooresville, March 27, 1937, to the late Thomas Guy and Lois Clodfelter Kistler. Harold was a graduate of Mooresville High School, Davidson College, and held a Bachelor of Divinity from Southeastern Theological Seminary.

From an early age, he began a 56-year ministry in Pastoring several churches across both Virginia and North Carolina with a commitment to spreading the gospel and serving others. Recognizing a need for the value and efficiency of God’s message, he created a one-minute weekday radio message of hope he called “Moment of Truth”. Harold was a compassionate person who loved his family and making people laugh. Fascinated by cars and fixing things, he was found constantly outdoors, whether gardening or farming or playing a great game of horseshoes.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Patricia Hill Kistler. Also surviving is sister, Doris Sparrow (Ralph); children, Kellie Clark (Kenneth), Chad Kistler (Amy), and Travis Kistler (Mike Kweller); grandchildren, Lauren Cook (Brandon), Joshua Clark, Tiffany Kistler, and Emily Kistler; and great-grandchildren, Storm and Jade Cook.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, May 4, at 11 a.m., at United Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Adam Woods, Rev. R.G. Rowland, and Rev. Kenneth Clark officiating. Interment followed in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m., at the church, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Gideons International at www.gideons.org. Wrenn-Yeatts North Main is respectfully serving the Kistler family. Online Condolences at www.wrenn-yeatts.com.
