Walker (“Jim”) Fitch Hunter III, 80, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 27, 2019.
Born in Rochester, NY to Walker Fitch Hunter Jr. and Winifred Collett Hunter. Jim grew up on a farm in North Greece, just outside of Rochester. He spent his days helping out on the farm, riding horses, and raising cattle with his brother, Bill. After graduating from Hilton High School and his freshman year at Davidson College, Jim was a U.S. Air Force Navigator stationed in Newfoundland, Canada. While stationed in Newfoundland, he welcomed his cherished daughter, Kimberly Streater, into the world. After the Air Force, Jim attended the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, graduating with a degree in accounting. He worked as a CPA for his entire career in the Dallas, Texas area, retiring a few years ago.
Jim always had a hobby going, and enjoyed total immersion in whatever his current interest was. Whether it was flying aircraft, skiing, lake house living, golfing, coin collecting/trading, Jim took it on with passion and zeal! One passion that remained steady throughout his life was Jim’s love for dogs; he adored his pet dogs.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents and his brother William (Bill) Hunter. He is survived by his beloved wife Susan (Jones), daughter Kimberly Streater, son-in-law Patrick Streater, and grandchildren, Samantha (Ryan) Ashley, Katherine (Tyler) Mittelstadt, Daniel (Tiffany) Streater, and Charlotte Streater. Also, by his sister-in-law, Wendy Hunter, and nephews Jonathan Hunter and Matthew Hunter.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a future date, yet to be determined.
Special thanks to the staff at Fountain View-Highland Springs Continuing Care, The Legacy Willow Bend, VNA Hospice, and Jim’s continuing care nurse, Matrice.
