William Fox Eckbert, Jr. ’60

Bill died May 6 at his home in Edgewater, New Jersey. He was 75 years old. Bill was born in Baltimore, and grew up in Cramerton, a small mill town in North Carolina where his father was a country doctor.

He graduated Belmont Abbey Preparatory School, Davidson College, Emory University School of Medicine, and Residency in Psychiatry at UNC-Chapel Hill. During the Viet Nam War, he served in the United States Army Medical Corps in Fort McClellan, Alabama. Bill practiced psychiatry in Winter Park/Orlando for four decades.

During last 20 years of his life, Bill became a committed Christian and a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Winter Park; his chief joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by Angeline, his wife of 50 years; his son, John; daughter, Ashley Berner; sister Patricia Bartlett; and four grandchildren Haden and Lucy Eckbert, Hopewell Rogers and Abigail Rogers-Berner.

The family will celebrate his life at All Angels’ Church, New York City.
