Richard I. Manning ’43

Richard Irvine Manning, 91, widower of Helen Renfrew Goodwin Manning, died Friday, August 16, 2013, at NHC Healthcare in Garden City. Mr. Manning was born in Spartanburg on October 25, 1921, a son of the late BernardManning and Katharine Ward Burton Manning. He served in the US Marine Corps during World War II. Mr. Manning was a former stock broker and owner of Mr. Frame It and Ortega Yacht Sales until his retirement in 1994. Mr.Manning was a member of the Vestry of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, Fla. and a member of the Florida Yacht Club. After moving to Georgetown, he was Guardian Ad Litem and a communicant of Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church. Surviving are: two daughters, Katharine B. Manning of La Crescenta, Calif. and Helen R. Manning of Georgetown; a son Richard I. Manning, Jr. (Nancy) of Greensboro, NC; two grandsons,Richard I. Manning, III of Greensboro, NC and John H. Center, Jr. of Melrose, Fla.; two granddaughters, Taylor M. Calvert (Clark) of Franklin, Tenn. and Christiane Weis of San Diego, Calif.; and a great-granddaughter, Cate Calvert.
