Bill Phillips was Adjunct Professor in Healthcare Finance in Health Services Management at The George Washington University, Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at Revenue Strategies, Inc.; and affiliate of Portal|Ascend Group where he helped hospitals improve revenue performance and margin.
With 25 years of hospital management and consulting, Bill has directed operations from small acute care hospitals and large academic medical centers. At KPMG, he served as National Director for the firm’s “National Managed Care Practice”.
A frequent revenue cycle speaker and author, Bill was Platoon Leader for the “CFO Boot Camps” at ANI and other conferences. Bill’s published articles include “Transfer DRG Underpayments” in Health Leaders Finance and “Discounting Revenue” in HFM.
When the surf is up, he occasionally may be found surfing in the 80 degree waters of the Atlantic. Bill was honorably discharged from US Army with a rank of Captain.
Bill Phillips passed away with a very short bout with cancer on Jan 1, 2012 in Ft. Lauderdale. He is survived by daughter Elizabeth Pozzi of Camarillo CA, Melissa Palmer of Bethesda MD and Daniel Phillips of Kensington MD. Bill was born on April 24, 1943 in Atlanta GA and grew up in Winter Park, FL.
