John W. Hevener ’48

John Hevener passed away on August 10, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving wife, Judy and his grandson, Neil.

He is also survived by his two sons, William and James Hevener, his daughter, Lisa Wetula, and his grandchildren, Dylan and Kyle Wetula, and Jacob and William Hevener.

Jack worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Rochester, but is best remembered for his volunteer efforts in prisons, youth homes, and general service work as a long standing friend of Bill W, including with the former Main Quest Treatment Center.

He had a life-long love for the outdoors, and was involved with a variety of conservation projects including trail maintenance, habitat restoration, and protecting sea turtle nesting grounds in Florida.
