William E. Crosby ’51

William Estes “Bill” Crosby, 80, husband of Kathryn Free “Kitty” Crosby, died August 6, 2010.Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Dr. Curtis Estes and Mary Kennedy Crosby. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School, Presbyterian College and several banking schools. He was a banker for 43 years, first with the County Bank and later retired from Bank of America.

A life long member of First Presbyterian Church, he formerly served as deacon, elder and was the treasurer and officer of the John Knox Sunday School Class. Bill formerly served on the Recreation Commission for many years and the YMCA Board. He was a Boy Scout leader, a member of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis, the Golden K Club, PALS, the United Way and the Senior Golf Association.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his children, Kathryn C. May (David), Elizabeth C. Tinkler (Paul), William E. Crosby, Jr. (Tess), John F. Crosby, Daniel C. Crosby (Deidra); a sister, Eliza C. Jay; ten grandchildren.
