Wright Morrow Guthrie, 85, born to Lyde Morrow and Roger Guthrie, passed from this earth on Sept. 24, 2009.
Wright graduated from Lamar in 1941. His studies at the University of Texas were interrupted by WWII. He was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Corps, serving as a navigator stationed in the South Pacific.
Wright returned to UT to study petroleum engineering and met his future wife, Jo-Beth Hollister. They were together for 50 years until her death.
Wright was an avid fisherman and hunter. His love of fishing took him to many place.
Wright is survived by his wife Dolly McGarrah Guthrie, and three daughters by his previous marriage, Susan Shorba, Gail Guthrie and Holly Guthrie, and their families including 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, his brother Roger Guthrie, his sister Fran Kneuppel.
