Gary Bert Lane ’64

Gary Bert Lane ’64, age 65 of Pensacola, passed away Monday, April 23, 2007.He was born October 25, 1941 and had been a lifelong resident of Pensacola. Gary attended The Darlington School, Davidson College and Stetson Law School. Upon graduation from Stetson Law School Gary began his career in law at Beggs and Lane and later went into private practice. Gary practiced law in Pensacola from 1968-1995. Gary also served in the United States Marine Corps reserves for six years. For many years, Gary was an active member in the community and belonged to various social organizations. Gary was a member of Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, and the Missionary Cenacle Family. Throughout Gary’s life he taught Sunday school and enjoyed leading religious retreats. Gary had a love for life and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed the beach fishing, reading and sharing his friendship and knowledge with others.

 Gary was preceded in death by his father, Bert H. Lane. Gary is survived by his six children, Ramsey Welles O’Neill Lane, Jonathan Breckenridge O’Neill Lane, Tyson Nathaniel O’Neill Lane, Susannah Fuller O’Neill Lane-Sullivan, Jennifer Sexton O’Neill Lane, Angus Livingston O’Neill Lane; six grandchildren, Gaige McKenzie Coldwell Lane, Keegan Moyra O’Neill Lane, Dominique Jessica Lane, Mary Katherine O’Neill Sullivan, Alden Welles O’Neill Sullivan, Kiley Rene O’Neill Poole and former wife Jennifer Welles Lane.

 Also surviving are Gary’s mother, Garth Lane; sister, Rebecca Lane Cunningham; brother Ramsey Lane; close companion Mary Anne Waring as well as nieces Blair Lane Cunningham, Amelia Jean Lane, and nephew Spencer Bert Lane.
