William F. Talbert ’49

COLUMBIA – A memorial service for William Francis “Frank” Talbert, 77, will be held 11:30 o’clock Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Swallow Savannah United Methodist Church in Allendale, SC, with inurnment in the church cemetery. Officiating will be his nephew, The Rev. O. Rhett Talbert, Jr. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.

Mr. Talbert died Monday, April 10, 2006. Born on July 24, 1928, in Enoree, S.C., he was the son of the late John Tillman Talbert and Fannie Mae Knight Talbert. Mr. Talbert was reared in Allendale and graduated from The University of South Carolina, where he was on the cheerleading squad and a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Talbert owned an Avis Rental Car franchise and worked in residential real estate while in Winston-Salem, N.C. While living in Columbia he worked in automotive sales. Mr. Talbert was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Columbia and, while in Winston-Salem, First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, William Davis “Bill” Talbert and wife, Robin, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a grandson, Joshua Talbert of Winston-Salem, N.C., and granddaughter, Kayla Talbert of Methodist College in Fayetteville, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Kasey and Dyllan Talbert of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a brother, Dr. O. Rhett Talbert; and a number of nieces and nephews. Those who preceded him in death were brothers John Tillman Talbert, Jr. and Kenneth Chesly Talbert.
