Preston Asbury Howard ’37 of Lincolnton, N.C. died May 24, 2005. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was owner and manager of Turner’s Store for forty-five years. He was an active member of Boger City United Methodist Church and served as president of the Kiwanis Club and the Lincolnton/Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce. He was a past recipient of Lincoln County Man of the Year. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Johnson Howard, 106 Mockingbird Ln., Lincolnton, N.C. 28092; one son, Phillip Asbury Howard and wife Cynthia, of Greenville, S.C.; one brother, Thomas Herman Howard of Lincolnton; one sister, Janet Howard Knox of Cornelius; two grandsons, Seth Hopkins Howard and Ethan Asbury Howard.
