George L. Roseborough, Jr. ’44

George L. Roseborough, Jr. ‘44 of Jacksonville, Fla., died May 30, 2005. He attended Davidson and the University of North Carolina. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard a minesweeper in the Mediterranean. After the war he returned to Jacksonville and went to work for Shands and Baker, now Florida Rock Industries. He retired in 1988. He was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd and served on the vestry for several years. He was also a co-chairman of the Community Chest United Fund. Surviving are his wife of fifty-six years, Mary Van Campen Rosborough, 5058 Pirates Cove Rd., Jacksonville, Fla. 32210-8310; a son, George L. Rosborough III; three grandsons and a great-grandaughter; a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
