Charles I. Rouzer ’41

Mr. Charles “Charlie” Ira Rouzer of Banner Elk, NC formerly of Salisbury, NC, died on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC.

Mr. Rouzer was born on September 24, 1919 in Rowan County, NC to the late Edna McCubbins and Harold Allen Rouzer .

He attended the Salisbury schools and was a graduate of Catawba College. He was the former owner/operator of C. Rouzer &  Company in Salisbury, which was an independent real estate and insurance agency. Later he was a sales associate for 14 years with Walmart Stores in Salisbury.

He served as PTA president at Boyden High School and a past president of the Board of Realtors. He was a member of Banner Elk Presbyterian Church, was a former member and served as deacon and elder with First Presbyterian Church, Salisbury, and was a former elder at North Hills Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Lowe Rouzer , whom he married on June 5, 1942, a son, Charles Robert Rouzer and wife, Jennifer of Durham, NC, a daughter, Ann R. Heath and husband Charles of Banner Elk, NC, and 3 grandsons: David Rouzer , Andrew Rouzer and David Heath.

Preceding him in death were 2 brothers, Harold Allen Rouzer , Jr. and Harvey Hayes Rouzer , and 2 sisters: Margaret Ingram and Mary Edna Rouzer .

Burial will be Saturday, May 28 at 11:00 AM at Chestnut Hill Cemetery. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:30 AM on Saturday, May 28, 2005 at First Presbyterian Church, with visitation at the church following the Memorial Service.

Officiating will be Dr. Jim C. Dunkin, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church and Rev. Bill Adams.

Memorials may be made to North Hills Christian School, 2970 W. Innes Street, Salisbury, NC 28144, or to the donor’s choice.
