Loraine Bledsoe “L.B.” Singleton ’26

Loraine Bledsoe “L.B.” Singleton, ’26 is formerly of Laurinburg, N.C. He obtained his education at Davidson College, UNC-Chapel Hill, and received his master’s degree at Columbia University.

He was a teacher, coach, and principal. He also worked for the N.C. Department of Agriculture, and was an educational director for Waverly Mills until his retirement in 1970. Following his retirement, he started a moving and storage business, which he operated until 1989. Lorraine died on April 19, 2005.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Florence Singleton. Surviving are his daughters, Suzanne S. Gibson, 805 Williamsburg Dr., Rockingham, N.C. 28379, and Marilyn Singleton of Sunset Beach, N.C.; and grandchildren, Claire Gibson, Bryan Gibson, and Darius Raji.
