Armond Tew , 76, of Arcadia, Fla., died March 21, 1999.
He was born Dec. 22, 1922, and lived all his life in Arcadia. He was a rural U.S. mail carrier. Mr. Tew was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. He was a deacon and a very active member for many years at the Arcadia First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Tew of Arcadia; daughters, Mary Mae Brown of Arcadia, and Lillie Joyce Schwarz of Sharpsburg, Ga.; sons, Danny Tew of Winston-Salem, N.C., Sammy Tew of Sharpsburg, Ga., and Tommy Tew of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; sister, Joyce Dozier of Arcadia; brother, Tommy Tew of Ponca City, Okla.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 23 at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, Arcadia. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. March 24 at Arcadia First Baptist Church, Arcadia. Burial will be Wednesday at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Arcadia.
