Second Lieutenant Harris was a member of the Heavy Mortar Company, 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. On June 4, 1952, he died near Chiro-Dong, North Korea of Meningeal Fibroblastoma. Second Lieutenant Harris was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
