James Baker Woods III ’62
Captain James Baker Woods III was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, CPT Woods served our country until February 6th, 1966 in South Vietnam. He was 25 years old and was married. It was reported that James died from multiple fragmentation wounds from a mine. His body was recovered.
James was born on September 19th, 1940 in Davidson, North Carolina. CPT Woods is on panel 05E, line 008 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for 3 years.
He was the Husband of Sheena Woods, 1800 Mecklenburg Avenue, Charlotte, NC.
He served with the Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry, “Cacti Forever”, 25th Infantry Division, “Tropic Lightning”, USARV.
He earned the The Combat Infantryman’s Badge(CIB), The Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service, The Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, The Air Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.
