Theresa Ellen Smith ’81

Theresa Ellen Smith ’81 of Winston-Salem, N.C., known always as Resa, died peacefully, June 29, 2005. After her successful battle with cancer in her early twenties, Resa became a lifelong student and practitioner of health and healing. She managed Friends of the Earth in Reynolda Village and shared her gifts freely with all around her. In her final battle with cancer, Resa was loving and courageous. She is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Betty Smith, 1045 Englewood Dr., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27106; her brother, Howard Smith Jr.; uncle and aunt Bill and Drane McCall; and cousins Vaughn and Dawn McCall, Will, James, Jack and Edgar and Dawn McCall and Elizabeth and Jack.

Marcia May Grove ’81

Marcia M. Grove Vashon Island, Wash., 34. died Sunday, Sept. 5.1993, following an accident. Born May 25. 1959, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of G. Frederick Grove of Oakmont and Gladys Burton of Fox Chapel. She lived in Vashon Island for three years and was a geneticist for Diagnostic Cytogenics Inc., Seattle.

She previously served with the Peace Corps in Africa for six years, teaching science in Gambia, Malawi and Ghana. She was an avid naturalist and environmentalist In addition to her parents, she is survived by a stepmother, Lynn Grove; one sister, Georgia Lee Grove of Atlanta, one brother, Frederick Grove of Columbia. S.C., and one grandparent. Thelma Burton of Reedsville.
