David E. Ingold Jr. ’74

David E. Ingold Jr., passed away peacefully on June 13, 2024, at his home in Brunswick. He was 72.

David grew up in High Point, North Carolina, the son of the late David E. Ingold Sr. and Edith F. Ingold. He excelled in baseball and football at Andrews High School and was senior class president. This led to a football scholarship to Davidson College in North Carolina, where he earned a BA in English, graduating in 1974. David was inducted into the TWA Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016.

Upon college graduation, David settled in Georgia and began a 45-year career in the insurance business, first in Atlanta and eventually as general manager of Parker-Kaufman Insurance in Brunswick. He met and married Zelda F. Morris, the love of his life, and they were married for 41 years. Together they raised two wonderful children, Amanda Kaye Morris and David S. Ingold, both of whom survive him.

David enjoyed golf, football, reading and creative writing all of his life. He enjoyed cruising and visiting the mountains of North Georgia and North Carolina. He was also an avid rock and roll fan, his favorite band being The Allman Brothers.

In addition to his wife, Zelda, and children, he is survived by his mother, Edith F. Ingold; a sister, Susan Ingold Bellamy (John) all of High Point; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, at First Baptist Church, in Brunswick, with Pastor Chris Winford officiating.
